Denakkanaaga
“Our People Speak” in the Koyukon-Athabascan language.
Denakkanaaga serves as the Elder’s voice for Interior Alaska by making the Elders concerns heard on various issues impacting them. They include Elder’s health services, housing, food security, and federal and state benefits. In addition to addressing these concerns at various meetings on behalf of the Elders, Denakkanaaga also advocates for Elders by testifying on legislation directly impacting them. It is important that Elders speak out strongly on social and cultural issues.
Denakkanaaga works to create outlets for Elders to carry on and educate others on their traditional Native ways, values, and cultures. We are pleased to hold cultural gatherings, work sessions and camps through the year to accomplish these objectives.
To sustain this important work, Denakkanaaga relies on the generous support of individual and corporate donations. We hope that you will join the growing numbers of supporters who understand the importance of the work being carried out.
Thank you on behalf of the Denakkanaaga Board of Directors, our staff, and most importantly, the Elders!
